I-Portak, son of I-Orm, is the leader of Dunway. As most Dunwayans, he is a warrior and is believed not magically gifted as he is not a fire warrior and fights as a soldier during conflicts. In Dunwayan tradition, if a leader does not fight beside his people, he can lose the leadership to another. I-Portak had to fight for the title of leader, as leadership is not simply passed down from father to son.

After I-Portak signed the treaty of alliance with the White, the people of the Leven-Ark protested against some parts of the agreement, and took Hanian hostages, including a young Auraya. This meant the treaty had to be re-evaluated between the leaders to prevent further conflict, and prevent I-Portak losing his title as leader. I-Portak mobilised his troops to fight in the Circlian-Pentadrian War, however due to the location, most of the Dunwayans did not arrive in time. I-Portak secretly sends his warriors to train in the harsh climate of the Sennon desert.

When it is found that Pentadrians had infiltrated Dunway in attempt to convert them, the village was sent to Chon to be dealt with by I-Portak. During the trial he had to be firm with his decisions and executed many, however he spared those who were too young or too old to be able to fight against the decisions made by the group. He sentenced those who were found guilty of failure to report the crime to the authorities to work in the mines. I-Portak fought again besides the Circlians in the Invasion to Southern Ithania.
