Ikaro is the half Sachakan half Elyne son of Ashaki Sokara. He is also Stara's older brother by three years, and married to Nachira via an arranged marriage. He was born and grew up in Sachaka, away from his mother. He plays the vyer, which his father disapproves of, so he hides it.

Spoilers from " The Magician's Apprentice"

Ikaro is jealous of Stara for living in Elyne with their mother, as he believes she was free to do as she wanted, whilst he was stuck in Sachaka with their father. He is unable to have children with his wife, and is afraid that Sokara will get rid of Nachira so he can marry again and produce an heir. Ikaro asks Stara to have a child so that they will not have to worry. He also teaches Stara Higher Magic before going to war so she can protect Nachira along with Vora. Ikaro is sent to Kyralia with the army of magicians, along with his father. They both are presumed dead, along with the rest of the army.
