Lilia is a female Novice at the Guild, who becomes a friend of Naki at the beginning of The Rogue. She plans to become an alchemist.

Lilia, an unpopular novice in her class, becomes friends with Naki, a popular novice. She often visits her and later realises she has developed deeper feeling for her. Naki acts on it, and they begin a secret relationship. Later at Naki's house, she persuades Lilia to take Roet with her and shows her a book on Black Magic. Addled with the effects of the drug, they both try to draw energy from each other and they succeed, however Naki lies and says she didn't manage it. They continue to take roet and drink wine until drunk, and fall asleep. In the morning, Lilia finds she cannot remember the night before, and Naki blames her for her father's death using Black Magic. A Hearing is called and Sonea reads Lilia's mind, whilst Kallen does the same to Naki. Lilia is found guilty of learning Black Magic and is arrested. Her sentence is ten years in the Lookout with her magic blocked, which Sonea does for her. During her stay in the Lookout, she befriends the other occupant, Lorandra. She subtly persuades Lilia to try and break her magical block using Black Magic. Lilia finds she can't break the block, but she can use her magic in other ways. She manages to escape with Lorandra and she is taken to Skellin. Fortunately, Anyi was spying on them and manages to rescue her before Skellin can get information on how to use Black Magic from her. Later, Lilia finds out that Naki is now helping Skellin and she can use Black Magic. Sonea then turns up and saves Lilia.

Lilia befriends Anyi, and after many visits, she realises she has feelings for Anyi. They later begin a relationship. Anyi is kidnapped by Skellin after an attack on their hideout, prompting Lilia to rescue her with the help of Rothen and Gol. Lilia finds them on a ship on the Tarali River, where Skellin tells her to teach him Black Magic. Lilia agrees and tries to deceive him, testing her theory of breaking skin magically. She succeeds and manages to kill Skellin. Lorandra sees this and slashes Anyi's throat in retaliation, then kills herself. Lilia hurries to Anyi and heals her, as Rothen arrives to rescue them both. On their way back to the Guild, Lilia tells Anyi of her father's fate, and they both grieve.
