Ranaan is a Dreamweaver, and apprentice to Fareeh. He works in the hospice of Jarime and visits patients in their homes with Fareeh. Ranaan is poorly gifted.

Spoilers from "Voice of the Gods"

Ranaan and Fareeh were sent to a house to treat someone, but were ambushed as they arrived. The group called themselves "True Circlians" and were dressed as Priests, however they were in fact Pentadrians. Fareeh managed to control their attacks, only enough to tell Ranaan to leave and get help. Ranaan escaped, but he knew that his teacher was outnumbered and that he wouldn't get help in time. Fareeh is then killed by the hostile group. Ranaan did not go back to the hospice, but instead returned to see what Fareeh's outcome was. Seeing a stranger watching him, he presented himself as Amli, a Pentadrian Servant. Amli took Ranaan to his house and told him that it was possible that the hostile group would want Ranaan killed, and therefore would be waiting near the hospice or near his house. Amli convinces Ranaan to convert to the Pentadrian faith, and takes him to Southern Ithania. He is later found by Ellareen who informs him of Amli's trickery.
