King Terrel is the father of King Merin. He had been ruler of Kyralia for thirty years before the events of The Magicians' Guild. He was the King that introduced the yearly Purge of Imardin. Many of the citizens of Imardin despise him because of this. Several statues of King Terrel have been erected, though all have been defaced or destroyed by the citizens of Imardin, still angered by the Purge. Even the statue of King Terrel within the Palace has been defaced.
His son, at the end of The High Lord abolishes the yearly purge.
